Verse for Meditation

Kindness. Breathe.
Gentleness. Breathe.
Warmth. Breathe.
Softness. Breathe.
You’re here with me. Breathe.
Joy. Breathe.
Love. Breathe.

I recently wrote this verse to use in my own practice. Breathing in, I feel kindness for myself gradually emanating from my heart, then take another full breath to appreciate that feeling. The other lines flow from there. “You’re here with me” could refer to anyone: human, deity, beloved pet, nature (not that we’re truly any different); even your own core of being, fully and naturally endowed with strength, love, and wisdom.

I close my eyes and internally recite this verse before meals, when I know I definitely have a minute to slow down and pause. I have found it a wonderful way to take care of and support myself throughout the day. It puts me in a great place from which to relate with clients, family, friends, and myself–the one experiencing all that relating! So I am delighted to be able to share it with you, and I hope you enjoy it.
